SmartPack 360

ERP for horticultural warehouses: quality, traceability and BI

SmartPack 360 is a working ERP for horticultural warehouses: receiving, packing, stock, shipping, invoicing, quality (ISO 9001/22000, IFS, BRCGS), traceability from field to cold room to customer, HR and a BI dashboard with an AI assistant. Not deployed yet, it runs fully on localhost and is designed to showcase operations and quality management in an interview.

The problem

Horticultural warehouses manage quality and traceability with spreadsheets and paperwork: no unified view, no real-time audits and trouble proving compliance with standards such as IFS or BRCGS.

The solution

A complete ERP with receiving, packing, stock, shipping, invoicing, quality (non-conformities, corrective actions, audits, FMEA, HACCP), reverse traceability (recall), HR and BI with Excel export. Enterprise architecture: REST API, JWT with 6 roles and Docker deployment.

Architecture

Python/Flask backend with SQLAlchemy and a documented REST API; React + TypeScript frontend with Tailwind CSS and Recharts; SQLite in development with migrations to PostgreSQL; CI with GitHub Actions; hybrid AI (rules engine + safe SQL) with optional LLM.

Over 100 green tests, with clean ruff and mypy. Runs fully on localhost (backend + frontend) and can be presented in an interview with demo data.

Features

  • Traceability from field to cold room to customer, with reverse recall.
  • Quality: non-conformities, corrective actions, audits, FMEA and HACCP.
  • Sales, shipping and invoicing with VAT and OTIF.
  • HR: shifts, incidents and per-worker performance.
  • BI dashboard with 14 KPIs, trends and Excel export.
  • Offline AI assistant with 16 intents over real data.
  • Role-based security: 6 profiles with JWT.

Challenges overcome

  • Building 12 deliverable phases with code quality and documentation while working solo.

Learnings

  • An ERP is not an app: it is domains, roles and processes designed before the code.
  • Traceability and quality are sold with clear reports, not raw tables.
